New Muslim Corner

You’ve embraced the religion and may think to yourself, now what?
CVIC offers one-on-one mentorship to answer just that. Meet Sister Norma & Brother Ehssan:

(Norma & Ehssan reside near CVIC in the city of Ontario)

Ehssan was born & raised Muslim. He is from Afghanistan, yet was born in Germany and raised here in the United States since he was 9 years old.
Norma was born in Mexico and moved to the United States when she was 8 years old. She embraced the religion of Islam in 2016 and has seen many changes since then. From the challenges of hearing Arabic for the first time, which to her were just “noises”, to learning how to perform her daily prayers.

“Each step took time, patience, and effort. I know what it was like trying to wrap my head around learning how to pray. It was difficult. I didn’t know anything, I had a really hard time. It was frustrating at times. I do wish that I had someone there to teach me the very basic things. I don’t mean to discourage anyone reading this, but I understand that it wasn’t all roses once I became Muslim. The mentorship of my husband helped me tremendously. Just having someone there to reach out to, talk to, ask simple questions, get clarifications, all of it has helped me so much. We are here for you and look forward to meeting you.” – Norma

“Being married to a New Muslim has opened my eyes to so many things. I have never really understood the challenges a person goes through from embracing Islam. It’s a life changer to say the least. A complete culture shock really. What I learned the most during this experience is that there are so many questions that one may have, but where does one begin? The great thing is once a question gets answered there is a sense of relief, its progress! I am here to assist in whatever way that I can. We’re here to get the ball rolling. I ask Allah to bless you in your spiritual journey. We’ll be hearing from you soon!” – Ehssan
